March 27, 2003 Hi, my name is "Tude". It was "Iggy" until two weeks ago when I came to my new home. I was in a 20 gallon tank without a UVB light and no heat. I was being fed lettuce and these nasty dry pellets they called "food". My previous Mom and Dad did love me, they just didn't know how to care for me. My previous Mom's stepson left me with her when he moved back to LA, because his Mom wouldn't let him keep me. This Mom didn't have time for me and felt bad because I was being neglected and not cared for properly - that's when my new Mommy came into the picture. My new Mommy got me to the vet for a check up immediately. Turns out I have a broken jaw, a broken back, a broken leg and a couple of malformed ribs. Oh - I also have parasites in my poop! I was told that I am suffering from severe Metabolic Bone Disease http://www.anapsid.org/mbd.html. They think I'm around 1.5 years, but no one knows for sure. I'm really tiny! The Good news is that my blood work came back very good! It even surprised the Iguana Doctor! The vet said I was most likely starving to death because I wasn't getting heat to process those yucky pellets. I've already put on weight in the two weeks I've been with my new Mom and I'm even kicking back my legs now!!! I even have a new "brother", Max (he's on Mopar's site too!). Max isn't too thrilled I'm here though. He keeps trying to pick fights with me -- and I'm just a little guy! Mom keeps us apart and tries to reassure Max that he's the head honcho... that's okay... I'm just happy to be in a home that gives me a HUGE living space, LOTs of leafy greens, WARMTH and those wonderful UVB lights. Life couldn't get any better... |

August 26, 2003 Hi again! Tude here. Okay! I lied! I didn't think it possible... but life just got better - again!! As you read above, I was adopted by a really nice lady
named Dana. She has spent allot of time with me over the past few months
reversing some of the medical conditions I had when she took me in. I knew
when I was adopted there might be a chance that I would someday find another
home if I recovered enough to not be a burden to my keepers. Well, it
happened! Recently I was adopted by two very special people named Hallie and
Ted. I now live in Ventura, CA (a 5 1/2 hour drive from San Jose). I have a
really great habitat and have settled in very quickly. ******Below are
pictures of me in my new home.***** |
